It is an especially good time to be proud to be a New Jerseyan, as New Jersey native Marina Alex is participating in this year's LGPA Tour. Marina Alex made her debut at last year's ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer. In 2012, she competed in seven events on the Symetra Tour, recording two top-10 finishes and a season-best tie for 3rd at the Challenge at Musket Ridge. Alex was twice named SEC Player of the Year while playing at Vanderbilt University, and was selected as a National Golf Coaches Association  First-Team All-American (2010 and 2012). As a sophomore, she was the individual winner at the 2010 SEC Championship and was runner-up in 2012 as a senior.

The 2013 ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer has also announced that Harrah's Resort Atlantic City will be the presenting sponsor of the Official Tournament Pro-Am events slated for Wednesday, May 29 and Thursday, May 30. LPGA players will tee it up with amateur golf enthusiasts on several of the finest courses in New Jersey: Atlantic City Country Club, Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club - Bay Course and Galloway National Golf Club. The two-day Official Pro-Am leads into a weekend featuring the world's best professional women golfers competing for a $1.5 million purse in the 54-hole, LPGA-sanctioned official event.
